The Dobsonian base was designed in 1965 by John Dobson, so the size of the telescope could be increased without adding instability to the slim telescope legs. The large base allows for a bigger tube for the amateur astronomer to see faint objects in the night sky easily. The base also provides a quality design that won't slip if you want to place it on top of a picnic table while you're outside. It'll rest on any surface without slipping since it's a huge base without legs. The base has a handle, so you don't have to disassemble it to move it within the backyard, either. While it's a heavy, substantial telescope, it's portable as well. Altazimuth Movement The altazimuth mount is one that supports large telescopes and allows easy movement for rotating. It rotates on a vertical or horizontal axis without slipping when the user releases the tube. You don't have to play around with tightening or loosening screws when making adjustments in the scope's …show more content…
Whether it's foggy, or overcast, the software can be used to view the stars and planets, fix them in the night sky, and give you a place to start when you're ready to head to view celestial bodies in the Astroscan Millennium. telescope. Assembly Required? The Astroscan Millennium comes already assembled, so you don't have dozens of lenses, screws, plastic pieces, and bits to sort through, identify, and add to the right part of the telescope. All you need to do is add the Starfinder and eyepiece holder. The telescope and the base are attached, but there will be a bit of cardboard holding the tube in place. The items will have to be loosened to remove the cardboard. There are no tools required for removing or loosening any parts of the base. In the accessory box, there are two eyepieces, a holder and the starfinder. They send a screwdriver with the accessories, so you will need a tool, but it's included. We like that specialized touch. That's a tool you can keep for other projects, or if you need to disassemble the accessories at some point. There's an instruction manual with detailed steps and pictures included in the box, but we've also included a video from Scientifics Direct that shows the process.
