The Large Hadron Collider is a project initiated by CERN. European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is a the largest organization in the Particle-Physics and High-Energy physics field. CERN provides scientists resources so that they can do their research. Whenever renovations are needed for the Large Hadron Collider CERN funds them. The Collider is the largest scientific project of all time. Scientist use it so that they can gain evidence for theories or to disprove theories. The Collider also helps find new particles that can benefit life on Earth. What is the Large Hadron Collider? How does it work? What are the different types of detectors? What Theories have been tested? What are the advantages and disadvantages? What are the …show more content…

One of the Pros is that the Large Hadron Collider allows scientists to test popular theories and support them with evidence. Another Pro is that it inspires people to innovate and create high-tech science material like the Large Hadron Collider. Scientists will use results from the Large Hadron Collider to create better and more efficient particle accelerators. The Large Hadron Collider hold jobs for up to 10,000 scientist. Scientist from different countries are able to arrange dates to examine the Collider and learn how it works. In Fermilab, there is a Cancer Therapy center and if the collider were to have one as well they can contribute to cure cancer. Also the Large Hadron Collider can help improve medical equipment resulting in an increase in efficiency. The Large Hadron Collider main con is money. The Collider is very expensive to fund over 11 billion dollars are used to build it. Renovating the Collider to make it more powerful also require a lot of money and effort. Many people were concerned about was the collider making black holes. A lot of people thought the world would be over and there was no hope. But researchers at CERN say “if” the collider was to fail and create a black hole it would only be a microscopic black hole and wouldn’t be powerful enough to destroy anything and would almost immediately shut …show more content…

Right now scientists have a model that describes the behaviour of matter. Even Though, this model (standard model) is very successful, it is incomplete and doesn't answer all questions in physics with perfect accuracy. Scientists have added a hypothetical extension to the standard model that helps describe the behaviour of matter with greater success. This extension is called supersymmetry. Although it is a hypothetical extension, it has attracted thousands of research papers and scientists. Supersymmetry is the idea that one can treat matter and force on equal footing. That is, every matter particle has a hypothetical force particle, and every force particle has a hypothetical matter particle. If the Hypothetical Force and matter are shown to be true, The supersymmetry equation/model matches better with the observations we see about the Higgs Boson, the three subatomic forces (electromagnetism, strong and weak nuclear force), and other concepts in physics than the Standard model. The Large Hadron Collider is the best tool scientists now have to study the credibility of
