NFL Regular Season Awards MVP: Matt Ryan- 4,944 Passing Yards; 38-7 Touchdown-Interception Ratio; 117.2 Passer Rating, 11-5 Record Heading into week 17 the MVP was up for grabs. Both Matt Ryan and Tom Brady had a chance to grab it, and both performed like an MVP, but in the end Matt Ryan is more deserving of the award than Brady. Ryan played in all 16 games, quarterbacked the number one ranked offense, led the NFL in passer rating, and became the fourth player in league history to average over 300 passing yards per game with a passer rating over 115. Brady played tremendous all season long, but Ryan had a historic 2016-2017 season and that should not be overlooked. He led the Falcons to an 11-5 record in spite of their defense. Johnson was not only the bell-cow back of the Cardinals’ offense, but he was also arguably the team’s most effective receiver. He was second on the team in total catches and receiving yards. He made the inept Cardinals’ offense watchable. Despite a poor passing offense, Johnson still managed to run up a storm, finishing 7th overall in rushing yards. He finished the season as the only player in the league with over 2,000 total yards. Miller was not only the best defensive player on his team, but he was also the best overall player on the team. Miller anchored one of the NFL’s best defensive units. They finished fourth in overall total defense, first in passing defense, and fourth in points allowed per game. Miller was the lynch pin of the defense playing in all 16 games. Each and every week, Miller seemed to make a game changing type of play. Offensive Rookie Of The Year: Ezekiel Elliott- 1,631 Rushing Yards; 15 Rushing Touchdowns; 5.1 Yards Per Carry; 32 Receptions Of all the awards, this was the easiest to pick. Ezekiel Elliott has been the clear-cut candidate since week three. He took ahold of the award and never looked back. Not only did Elliott lead the NFL in rushing yards, but he did so in 15 games, and helped turn the Cowboys around from a 4-12 team to a 13-3 team. He was the most exciting, talented rookie running back since Adrian Peterson. Elliott is special and this will be one of many awards he will win.
