Unnecessary Government Programs?

Today the most common phrase for politicians is that they will create more programs to get things done. But are these extra programs even necessary. Do we actually need these programs that they claim will better our lives? Of course its a good thing to better our lives, our state, and our country, but do these programs actually help us... or do they hinder us.

One program in question is the Clean Ohio Fund. This organization is divided into 4 groups: the Brownfield Revitalization program, the Farmland Preservation program, the Green Space Conservation program, and the Recreational trails program. It has redeveloped more than 380 former commercial and industrial properties, turning them into 3,800 acres of clean development ready land. Although this is a good thing, it isn't quite worth spending our tax dollars. One way we could avoid this is to turn it into a private organization. It isn't necessary that the state run this and we could save our money for something better.

The Farmland preservation program purchases land from farmers that want to keep their land in agricultural production in perpetuity. Once again this is state funded when it doesn't have to be. This we could turn into a volunteer project. Farmers could donate their land, but they would get some of the profits it gains.

The Green Space Conservation program helps fund ways to protect the habitat of rare, threatened, or endangered species; preserve high quality wetlands and other scarce natural resources; provide pedestrian or bicycle passageways between natural areas and preserves; reduce or eliminate nonnative, invasive plant and animal species; provide safe areas for fishing, hunting, and trapping in a manner that provides a balanced Eco-system. With this, instead of making it state funded, we could make it donation funded. We could have people donate what they want to improve the environment. This would be very helpful as this is the most expensive part for the COF and hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent for this
