The definition of an abortion is the process of ending a woman’s pregnancy by the termination of an embryo or fetus inside the mother’s womb (Pros and Cons Abortion). During the process of an abortion, the unborn child is not treated as a human being. The baby is treated as a nuisance; it is not given the proper care, it is regarded as a nonliving thing (Abortion Facts). Abortion is not the only method to take when a mother is confused by her feelings about the pregnancy for how her pregnancy came about (Arguments about Abortion). There is no reason to punish a child when they have no control of what is going on in the world around them. It is not the baby’s fault if a pregnancy was accidental or unexpected. Abortion should be illegal no matter the consequences, because it kills innocent human beings, it can be harmful to the mother, and it damages society as a whole. There are many methods of abortion and exactly how the baby is extracted from the uterus and treated during the process of removal. There are several ways in which a doctor can eliminate a child from its mother’s womb, some of which are far more brutal than others. In the dilation and curettage method, the unborn baby’s body is actually cut into many small pieces and extracted, often by suction. During the dilation and evacuation method, forceps are inserted into the uterus, grabbing and twisting the body of the child to dismember it; if the head is too large, it must be crushed to remove it from the womb.
