If I had learned one thing throughout this year, it is that prostitution is one of the most unifying pastimes of the world. From ancient Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh, to Indian Siddhartha, to European Candide, prostitution or human trafficking was and is a worldwide phenomenon. Despite not reading any literature from the Americas, you can always go to Las Vegas to confirm that their still is prostitution. There are five different types of prostitution according to Miethe and McCorkle in the book The Police in America by Walker and Katz. There are commonly female prostitutes, but it should be realized that there are male prostitutes. There are as follows: streetwalker, bar girls, skeezers, brother prostitutions, and calls girls. According to The Police in America book, streetwalkers are the lowest type of prostitutes in society. They often are women on the lower social economic scales.
During the WWI/Interwar/WWII years, women’s bodies became battle grounds. Women fought for the right to control their own bodies and shape their own futures while governments fought to control women’s bodies and women’s actions for the “good” of the nation. Prostitution, fashion, and abortion are some of the biggest fights women faced during the mid-1900’s. Not only were women fighting against the powerful of the government but they were working against the social norms of society. Women did many things to try and attempt to shape their own fates despite efforts by governments and others to impose controls on women.

This explains why young women get blindsided and think they are becoming a prostitute when in reality they are a sex trafficking victim (Elrod 2015). When the United States made prostitution illegal, it did not change the mentality of the johns.
After researching about multiple different topics that are presumed problems in the United States that need resolving, sex trafficking is a line of work that goes against any religion. Does the United States do enough to prevent people from joining this line of work, or are they pushing papers so they don 't get involved? Does the United States of America take action when needed, or do they have enough laws placed that can prevent pimps from selling innocent human beings? Prostitution, the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity for payment arrived from the latin word “prostituta”. While researching this topic it was found to be very controversial.
The city of Amsterdam has been thriving for centuries now, both socially, economically and culturally.
