Everyone has a dream, a goal, something that strive for. For many, this is pursued as a career. Mine is a Psychiatrist. A Psychiatrist is a medical doctor that specializes in mental health. In this job, you would have the responsibility of diagnosing, prescribing, and treating patients with mental health disorders. I think that I would enjoy all my responsibilities but enjoy the treatment part the most. I think this would be the most interesting and the most satisfying. Some tools that are used in this occupation are softwares like SoftPsych Psychiatric Diagnosis, MEDITECH Behavioral Health Clinicals and Advantage Software Psych Advantage; medical devices like blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes; PET and CT scans; medicine, blood tests/medical laboratory tests, psychological tests, anesthesia, and an electrocardiogram (ECG). In this job, I would use PA 's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(DSM-5) to help diagnose my patient’s condition. Then, I would select the most suitable form of treatment: Medication, Psychotherapy, Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). I think this career fits my personality well because I have strong communication skills and have good judgement. A personal value that this career provides is being able to help others. I think this occupation would be right for me because I like talking to people and making connections with others. I’m also a good listener. Knowledgeability of human behavior and medications are main components, both topics of which are of extreme interest to me. I am looking forward to my patients coming back and saying that I gave them hope, will to live, self love, and just positivity overall. The ultimate happiness is making others
