Therapy Discussion Psychodynamic therapists providing psychoanalytic treatment explores the person’s personality and how they think then helps the person to change their thinking process in a way that addresses hidden conflicts and defenses. The therapist searches for some deep-seated problem that has rooted itself in the client and attempts to cure the phobia by resolving the original issue. According to David Myers (2014), “Psychodynamic therapists don’t talk much about id, ego, and superego. Instead, they try to help people understand their current symptoms. They focus on theme across important relationships, including childhood experiences and the therapist relationship. Rather than lying on a couch, out the therapist’s line of vision, patients meet with their therapist face to face.” (p. 654). This form of therapy is not as popular today as it was in the past but still provides the therapist with a treatment that can help resolve personality issues that are hidden deep in the person’s subconscious mind. …show more content…
