Psychokinetic Powers In A Dystopian Society

927 Words4 Pages

This anime is about a dystopian society where everyone is born with psychokinetic powers (PK) known as Cantus and deals with the most complicated human nature and social issues which are very much always difficult to address, accept, and obviously the hardest to get rid of. So, I would like to start my paper describing the story as shortly as possible. Here are the names of the major five characters – Saki Watanabe (Female Protagonist), Saki’s friends- Maria Akizuki, Shun Aonuma, Satoru Asahina, and Mamoru Ito. Saki Watanabe, who is the protagonist of this story, gets into the Sage academy (a very important institution for PK users to learn about, exercise, and control their Cantus) last among her friends as her Cantus shows up late. Throughout different episodes Saki and her friends are trained in particular ways consisting different methods like learning a Cantus-unleashing mantra, reinforcing their death feedback by “projection”, controlling their thoughts using lessons in class, and by sorting them into small groups. Even though death feedback is a genetically inserted trait, the way they are nurtured determines it’s activation. So, it’s really important to teach them by projection- here the role of psychoanalyst is played by a monk who hurts himself to demonstrate pain and violence towards a human, and the young PK users’ feedback starts to kick in which later in life ensures the stability of death feedback mechanism as well as assures that these children will not impose any threat on Kamisu 66. In this method of projection a child for the first time discovers death feedback’s existence within herself/himself. Establishing this attribute is absolutely mandatory as all the people living in Kamisu 66 has death feedback and will never be able to defend themselves against a Fiend who has “Raman Klogius Syndrome” lacking both morals and biological restraints which allows them to kill others
