The article “The Myth of Helplessness” by Jay P. Greene, talks about education and how a child social status can affect them. When some people are facing problem they tend to make excuse for themselves. When people are making excuses that is just another way of saying that they are just giving up. When people are from a trough background they sometime have a hard time trying seeing a better future for themselves and believe that they will live the same way they are living now in the future. There are many schools that have problem.
The current government is creating a situation where more families along with their children are experiencing homelessness. An individual may be considered homeless when they lack permanent housing and have to stay in shelters, abandoned buildings or vehicles, on the streets, or in other forms of unstable situations. Many homeless people start out with jobs and stable residences, but then social and economic factors intervene, causing a rapid change in their living situation causing them to leave, and live on the street. Even with the population of homeless keeps increasing, the government does not aid nor benefit the homeless because they only worsen the homeless problem by having laws that go against homelessness, not helping mentally ill homeless population, and having the lack of subsidized housing.

Homelessness is not a new issue as it has already existed for many years ago and the existence of homeless people is often being ignored. The reasons why they end up sleeping on the streets is largely because of individual factors (Main, 1998), which is contributed by structural factors (Cyndy Baskina, 2007). It is unsure whether homeless people choose to end their lives in this way or are among the victims of situations? Many researchers contribute homelessness to structural factors but advocates of human rights debunk this and highlights that the main reason for homelessness is due to mostly individual
On Census night 2011 there were 105,237 people experiencing homelessness, with 45,813 or 44% of these are women. There are over 2,200 women in improvised dwellings, tents or sleeping rough (Homelessness Australia, 2012). The major causes of homelessness amongst women include domestic violence, sexual assault and family breakdown. These experiences force women from their home, along with their children, in search of a safer place to live. Women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless often lack control over their lives because they are dependent on others to provide accommodation (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2008).
There are three main factors that lead to homelessness which are structural factors, system failures and individual and relational factors. The structural factors is when a person is affected by economic and societal issues that affect their opportunities and social environment for example, the lack of adequate income and/or the experience of discrimination may lead to homeless. Furthermore, the system failures occur when the support from individual’s family and care fails resulting people become homeless helplessly. The third factor is individual and relational factors in which family violence and extreme poverty plays a role. The family with violence, abuse, addiction, mental health problems of other family members and extreme poverty can lead to being homeless.
Homelessness is a product of social inequalities. Karl Marx stated that the capitalist society produces two prominent classes which are in conflict with each other, bourgeoisie and proletariats. The bourgeoisie are the oppressors who own the means of production and the proletariats are the oppressed workers who labor for the bourgeoisie. Capitalism is distinguished not by privilege but instead by individuality of property ownership and that those who create the conditions of the oppressed group express this power in the form of laws that function to serve the bourgeoisie’s interests (Marx, 2004, p.129).
Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.
Homelessness has been an ongoing issue since its emergence in the 1870’s since then it has continued to rise over time. The homelessness Crisis is one of the biggest problems the United States faces today. As of today, there are approximately more than 500,000 people experiencing homelessness. This is a major issue as nearly half a million people without a home have to sleep on the streets, have nothing to eat, no medical care, and many more things that homeless individuals do not have the luxury of having for various reasons. The most common reasons are the cost of living is constantly rising, unemployment, low income, mental illnesses, and substance abuse.
It is indiscriminate and has no concern for one’s status, race, ethnicity, background, religion, and so on. Therefore the fear of homelessness is the fact that it can happen at any time.. As a result of the United States economic situation, there is a lack of jobs and livable wages provided for growing communities. The insufficient provision of financial aid is among the factors that cause homelessness. The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.
Homeless families are primarily lead by single parents, typically mothers. Significant factors that contribute to homelessness include the inability for individuals to attain affordable housing, reduced access to support programs, and a low minimum wage (Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation, 2003). Many of these circumstances are accentuated by a variation of personal struggles endured by the family. Such challenges manifest themselves in family violence, mental and physical health, and financial struggles. A family without access to resources and support systems is expected to find the maintenance of a viable home environment difficult.
You would n ever know by looking at me or talking to me that my family and I have been homeless before. For the kids that have been homeless before it doesn't make you any less worthy, or intelligent than anyone else. There are many things you can do not only to help yourself with the feelings of being embarrassed or ashamed but you can also help others like you, be apart of organizations, and volunteer your time to others that have been in our situation of being homeless so they can feel better and know it ’s okay.
Homelessness is a significant complex societal problem. Many people think homelessness is an individual problem, but I think society has a large factor on why people become homeless. Individuals who are homeless are not lazy like most of society thinks. These people are struggling with societal problems such as living costs and mostly cannot support themselves financially. In my eyes, Homelessness is a factor of societal forces such as high cost of housing and living and also society having failed systems to support people who are stuck in these sorts of situations.
No matter how rich someone is reality still happen. If happen to the homeless man sitting on the sidewalk at the red light. It happen to Donald Trump, it happens to Bill Gates. No matter how rich or poor someone is bad thing still happen. There are many thing money can not protect someone from.
