While genetics play a major role in psychology, experiences are often the primary factor in the development of one’s personality. Nurture, a person’s surroundings and experiences, often determines his outlook on life and how he reacts to certain situations. This often led to me being restless, causing problems for the rest of the class as a result; however, this changed during my 1st grade year. The teacher, Mrs. Hall, was able engage me in class activities. Her teaching style developed in me a love of school and, in turn, learning which has motivated me to learn as much as I can. Without her, I might have not adapted in that way and pushed myself academically as much as I have. My education was an unusual one. I was mostly homeschooled with a homeschool group which met once a week supplementing my at home classes. Thanks to this, I have adapted to learn independently, which has benefited me greatly in any academic endeavor. This adaptation has benefited me especially in college courses, where a large portion of the work is done outside of class. While I had gained a love of education previously, I had never settled on a subject to focus on until high school. During this time, I met my science teacher for the next two years. Thanks to his enthusiasm and style of teaching, I found that science was the subject which stood out to me as the most enjoyable. For example, I was bored in school until I had gone through first grade, after which I enjoyed school and found it to be enjoyable.
