When I was 12 years old my mother suffered from depression, following my parents divorce. At that time I was oblivious to the seriousness of this disorder and found her behavior unreasonable and as a result did not to speak to her for 2 long years. It was a year back, when I started understanding psychology, I realized and understood that the mind is a complex thing. There is an answer to all our impulses and there is always a clarification and understanding for all our behaviors and reactions. This subject helped me understand the mistakes that we make while judging people by their exhibited behavior, without realizing the underlying cause and is now the subject I would like to carry forward.

In school I have actively participated in varied extra curricular activities that have taught me different skills. I currently hold a 4-year diploma from the Prayag Samiti in the Indian classical- Odissi, a dance form that has taught me the art of patience and perseverance. I have also participated in a variety of public speaking activities including Model United Nations and interschool debates since grade 9 and have won the best speaker and best delegate on numerous such occasions- these experiences taught me how to express my views on a public platform and have given me a sense of confidence while expressing myself. I have also not held back when it comes to sports. I have represented my School in District level meets in swimming, athletics and basketball. This year in school, I have been in a position of leadership as the House captain, Diamond House, for the year 2015-2016 and lead my house to victory for the Champion House trophy. This role in particular boosted both my leadership and critical thinking skills. In addition it has built up my sense of responsibility and increased my compassion for others. As a member of the student council I got the chance of organizing all different inter-school events held at our school.
