Literature Supporting my Assertions Researchers found that Interpersonal Psychotherapy is the best and most effective therapy to use with clients who have Borderline Personality Disorder (Bellino & Bozzatello, 2015). However, researchers found that over a course of two-years with Psychoanalytic Therapy, clients received therapy that was a strong positivity effect. To add, the clients that received this therapy achieved a higher functional level. The researchers indicated that Psychoanalytic Therapy is one of the best solutions proven to get clients closer to the self-reliance and labor market (Nauert, 2015). Having the research from IPT and Psychoanalytic Therapy, both can coincide with treating clients who have a Borderline Personality Disorder to transition back into the world and overcoming their interpersonal deficits. Working with a client who has Borderline Personality Disorder on a micro level will require certain skills. First, the social worker will implement their chosen therapy. Second, they will observe their client carefully. While working with clients who have BPD it is possible to become bias towards the client. It is important to have self-awareness in every interaction with a client.
