Introduction
Public administration entails the execution of government policy. Public administration is also an academic discipline that is thought to civil servants in order to prepare them to work in the public service. Public administration therefore requires individual with a wide scope of how a government operates in order for them to enhance the fundamental goals of a public entity in implementing management policies that give value to the taxpayers. Lake Merritt is centrally located in the city’s east downtown and is designated as an official wildlife refuge. The city also has tourist attractions like the Oakland waterfront. The city is known for violent crime, property crime in addition it is one of the most sustainable cities with regard to the use of renewable energy. Oakland city is one of the leading tourist destinations with it being named the top destination in northern America. The city has sophisticated bars and restaurants, an increasing nightlife appeal, and top music venues.
The city of Oakland is ranked at position sixteen in the category of the coolest cities in America with good entertainment and recreational opportunities. It is also listed top in the most exciting cities with many theatre companies, movie theaters, and museums. The population density for the city is 5009 persons per square mile. The racial composition of the population for Oakland is 34.5% white, 25% Hispanic, 28% African America, and 8% native America among others. The mayor is elected for a four-year term. He or she governs with eight council members who represent the seven districts of the city and a member who represents the larger district.
