It has always been knows that the best things in life are things we cannot buy. Good health is one of such things that can be gained only through endless and vigilant care about our physical and mental state. Buddha said that one of our duties is keeping our body healthy otherwise we will not be able to keep our mind clear and strong. Every person knows that a strong nation is a healthy nation. And everyone should understand that public health begins with his or her interest to be healthy.
When talking about public health preparedness Melinda Moore in the article “The Global Dimensions of Public Health Preparedness and Implications for US Action” distinguished four areas for action: 1) sensitizing public health departments to the global nature of diseases; 2) learning from the experience of other countries; 3) ensuring the efficiency of the US investments in global health; 4) acting locally while thinking globally. According to Khan (2013), local health departments are the first instance where the community address in the case of incidents. They are the first ones who detect threats. So the collaborations between global and local instances, in this case state health organizations and local health departments, shall be a great tool in preventing, protecting against, responding to and recovering from the greatest threats and natural hazards. There are some emergency situations, for instance storms or hurricanes, that applies joining of organizations on federal, state and local levels in order to give the first aid, provide shelters, food and drink water for for people, give instructions how to keep safety while recovery works.
