As the newly appointed Public Information Officer, I have been tasked with developing a plan to revitalize the relationship between the institution and local media representatives. This initiative is in response to the accusations of deception and the unwillingness to cooperate as it pertains to releasing information regarding the recent incidents at the prison. Our new approach will be grounded in proactive communications that will lead to openness and transparency. We will no longer allow assumptions to be made about the happenings in our facility from tv shows and one side perspectives. Public relations department will be implementing a complete audit of internal records to ensure that information is accessible and translucent. Therefore data can be located and presented efficiently and effectively, to increase trustworthiness between the public and our facility. Next we will encourage the staff become more involved with community activities. I would like to our staff sponsoring job fairs, completing community service projects and assisting our youth before delinquency leads them to our facility (Masker, n.d.). This year we will be establishing a Correctional Officer’s week where will be hosting several visitor programs for staff, inmates, and the press. We will be welcoming visits from community leaders into our medium security facility so that they will have the opportunity to socialize with staff, observe some inmate group activities and see first hand what others assume. Therefore, all of our actions will be analyzed through a microscope. Thus, we shall prepare ourselves through intensive training to overcome a variety of situations, which will represent the institution in a positive light. In this plan to change the perception of this institution. I will also challenge myself to assist in the education of the public, staff, and elected representatives of the positive changes that we are implementing within that facility that will spill over into the community. I will also take on the challenge of utilizing all mediums such as TV, radio, internet, and press releases to broadcast the new perspective of our facility(Hedger, 2017). Soon, I plan to circulate a bulletin to all departments soliciting assistance from current employees who have experience in marketing and advertising who wish to help on the campaign to change this companies image. Our department is dedicated to rebuilding our relationship with local media representatives, who typically want to report on negative or exciting topics. We will be responsible for supplying them with current information on events and collaborations with our community outreach
