Two advertisements from a 2011 Public Service Announcement by the Surfrider Foundation is captivating to a vast audience. The Surfrider Foundation was made to make people knowledgeable about the dangers of plastic pollution. Both these ads are demonstrating how plastic is damaging the Earth by doing harm to the animals, their home, and humans. The ads go into great detail even though there are few words on the ads. These ads are meant to have a wide open mind on the topic being presented, but still give a good description of what the problem is to make the reader want to make a change. The next ad is dealing with the same topic, but being used in a different, unique way to show the reader plastic is harmful, not only to animals but also to humans. Sushi, a food many enjoy to inhale into their bottomless pit of a stomach, normally wrapped up with seaweed. In this ad, seaweed is not what is used to wrap this tasty meal. Plastic bags have been used to wrap the food in, replacing the seaweed that would normally be used. Inside the sushi is some white rice, but looking deeper into the food is more plastic bags. A meal that no one would want to eat. This image is showing that fish eat plastic in the ocean. Once they have consumed it, the consumer eating that fish will now be eating the scrumptious plastic also. This is not safe for humans nor is it safe for the animal to be consuming the plastic. There is a statistic used to show fish consume 12,000 tons of plastic off of the West Coast every year. This ad is for mature viewers to understand the information given, since not many words have been used to describe what is needing to be taken from the image to make a …show more content…

Within these advertisements it is interpreted, and known, that many ocean animals consume a lot of plastic in their lifetime, the majority dying from the evil, polluted trash. Humans are also very easily capable of consuming the awful plastic once they eat animals that have eaten the plastic. The sushi advertisement demonstrates how plastic is very harmful in a more appropriate manor. It has a statistic that shows how much animals consume just off of the West Coast, that is not showing all the other oceans that have a lot of plastic floating in the animal's home. This ad also shows how an animal can consumes the plastic very easily then humans can consume it too after that animal has. The ad with the albatros does a decent job showing the problem, but the sushi ad has created a much more convenient way to help the reader understand the tragic truth about plastic. Hopefully this ad will bring the viewers attention to the problem and will want to stand up and make a change for the animals and themselves, so no more plastic will be consumed and no more sea life will be taken from the plastic. These ads will help to motivate people to polish the Earth of plastic so animals and humans will not polish it off for
