September 16,1810 Miguel Hidalgo Y Costilla helped mexicans to fight back against the spanish government known as “Grito de Dolores” that ended 300 years of colonial rule. Mexico fell into Spanish hands in 1521 when Hernan Cortes and his army of conquistadors toppled the Aztec empire under order of king Charles V Cortes founded capital city -Ciudad de México. Hidalgo led his growing militia from village to village in route to Mexico city, leaving in their wake a bloodbath that he came later to regret . Defeated at Calderon in January 1811 , Hidalgo fled north but was captured and executed by a firing squad in Chihuahua.
The travels of Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was born around 1490 in a small Spanish town called Jerez. He was believed to have grown up with his grandparents, because his parent died when he was young. Cabeza de Vaca left Spain for the Americas in June 1527. In April 1528, the ship's captain, Narváez, landed near present-day Tampa Bay, Florida with his large army of soldiers and settlers. Even with shortages of food, the Spanish made its way first north and then west along the southern coast of Florida to the Gulf of Mexico in Florida’s panhandle.

Pancho Villa was born Doroteo Arango, the son of a sharecropper at the hacienda in San Juan Del Rio, Durango. While growing up, Pancho Villa witnessed and experienced the harshness of peasant life. In Mexico during the late 19th century, the rich were becoming richer by taking advantage of the lower classes, often treating them like slaves. When Villa was 15, his father died, so Villa began to work as a sharecropper to help support his mother and four siblings.

Pedro Alonso Lopez, also known as Monster of the Andes, was a colombian serial killer who was sentenced for killing eighty girls, but he claimed he murded and rapped about three hundred. Pedro Lopez was known for raping girls around his country then moved to Peru and Ecuador and all around. Pedros dad died when Benilda; his mother, was three months pregnant with her son at the time of his father's death.
The legend of the Virgen de Guadalupe has become a common symbol of hope to many incoming immigrants of Latin American countries. Due to U.S. governmental and economic interventions in Latin American countries, it has caused many people to migrate as refuges and flee unstable environments. These mass migrations have been followed by torturous trails and stories that many times end in death or abuse, however, other times it has allowed refugees to move away and live stable lives in the U.S. However, once in the U.S., these immigrants are faced with discriminatory policy based on false accusations that makes their lives unsafe and unprotected. Therefore, Latinx religious faith becomes a strong component of community for these groups.

On November 15,Officer Jeronimo Yanez was charged with manslaughter and various gun charges due to a shooting at a routine traffic stop. On July 6, almost 5 months ago, Officer Jeronimo Yanez pulled over Philando Castile, with the assumption that he was involved in a robbery that happened a few days prior. Mr. Castile had his girlfriend and his child in the car when he was pulled over. After handing the officer his license and registration, Mr. Castile that he was armed, but there was a permit for the gun with his papers.

Hernan Cortes was born on 1485 in Medellin, Spain. Medellion was neighbored by Estramuda, which was known for the large amounts of conquistadors that hailed from there (Herrick 130). Estramuda and the surrounding towns were also known for being strong supporters of the estemadura shrine which was the original inspiration for the name Guadalupe. Hernan Cortes first landed on Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti) in 1504, he came with 600 men with the sole purpose of setting an establishing position in the Americas (Hamnett 59). Guanajuato, Mexico is where it all began. Its where my family cultivated their Mexican traditions. It is a place that is known, for the colonial cities, especially San Miguel de Allende. San Miguel de Allende is located in the eastern part of Guanajuato in a hilly area. An area that at the moment you get there you fall in love with the: architecture, food, art, monuments and the infinite amount of things.
