Albert Bierstadt, “Puget sound on the Pacific Coast” is in the text book on page 33. This painting looks very realistic. Bierstadt is a German-American painter. The painting was great on this portrait as well. Bierstadt used mostly dark colors on this painting. By looking at the details in this painting it looks like it’s windy, because of how the waves are.

In this painting, people are on the coast working. He captures the time before a storm coming toward one of the Puget Sound’s beaches. As the people work, there is a bad storm approaching them. The clouds are dark in this painting. In the middle of the painting, there is a place where the sun is beaming through a little. The source of light from the sun is trying to lead its shining rays to the beach. The wind is up and the water is blowing and hitting the rocks. The waves around the coast are very small but as the water gets deeper and goes towards the storm, they get bigger. The ocean waves are pounding the shore where you can see some Indians struggling.
