The Life of The Puritans is often researched but many have forgotten about the Puritan Children and what their daily life was about back in the 1800’s. I researched their infant life all the way to their eight year old to twelve year old life. Also, I researched their educations, the roles of each the girls and boys , and the discipline of the children. Each topic of the daily life of The Puritan child’s life is very different now from this day and age.

The Puritan children lived a different, but somewhat similar childhood to this day and age. The Puritan children attended school in early morning hours after they finished their chores, they didn't return home until the afternoon. The children were taught to read because the Puritan Adults wanted them to learn how to read the Bible.. If the children acted up in school it would be considered sinful. Latin grammar was taught throughout the school. The purpose for grammar school was to prepare the children for the university. Higher education was at Harvard. The games were often seen as a distraction for the kids. They often played with marbles and they flew kites. They also played with spinning tops.The girls would play with dolls and sew and spin clothes. The boys would do cattle herding and fishing. When the children wanted to play games they would have to wait for permission from their parents. The children did not have electronic toys, most of their parents made their toys out of old things for them. That's all they had to play with. Usually families had many kids so, usually the kids would play with each other. They often jumped rope outside during the warmer days. They played some games then that we play now, such as hide-and-seek and tag. The children often created their own games to play, since they didn't have a lot of toys to play with. The Children were always occupied but during their free time they would always make time for fun and games after
