I can’t think of anything more rewarding that I’d enjoy doing besides helping people in need. I believe being a respiratory therapist would be good for me, as I would be good for this field as well. I truly believe I’m everything that is required of this field, people-oriented, dependable, flexible, honest, compassionate, hardworking and willing to learn. I always pictured myself working in a hospital setting. When it comes to something I want to do the rest of my life, I want to feel and know what I’m doing is something important.
Ever since I was little I’ve always loved kids. I’ve always been the mother of the group, and the person at the family get togethers that plays with the babies the whole time. I decided at an early age I wanted to be a teacher. Not only because I wanted to decorate my classroom, but also because I love seeing the look on peoples faces when the thing they’ve been trying to understand finally clicks in their head. Being a teacher or a L&D nurse are my career path choices because I would get to work with kids and it best suites my personality.
I had originally had the mindset of a career in education. Due to personal conflicts with my family and the economy, I had to change my mindset to something more economically stable. My parents insisted that I become a doctor; however, I strongly disliked the idea of white coats and surgery. I then began narrowing my skills down to counseling and communication. With some personal research, I found that my interests have drifted from education to the human mind.
I have always wanted to work with children. As a child I helped care for children younger than myself including my younger sister - I am the fourth from five children. This grew to my taking a really keen interest in child care in social contexts around me. While it was generally assumed by my family that I would be a teacher, I explored other career choices qualifying in Life Sciences and Medical Microbiology with Biochemistry. Still my interest in children stayed with me.
Growing up with two parents who work in the healthcare field, you become saturated with it. Healthcare becomes a focus of dinner conversations reflecting the entire spectrum of the patient-provider relationship from funny stories to intense life-threatening moments. At times, this environment can push children towards trying new and unique experiences. For me this was the case. After having an opportunity to teach overseas for three months, life began to push me towards a vocation change.
Since I was a child I have been asked what I want to do when I grew up. Truth was I never really knew. What I wanted changed over time from working with computers, to be an engineer. The only real constant that I had was wanting to help others. Despite the change in what I wanted to pursue the fact never changed that I wanted to do was help people.
While I have been found myself drawn to basic research in this realm, basically I am very proud of my profession as a pediatrician and I have always loved cooperation with my patients. Satisfaction in my day-to-day work can be come from my humanistic spirit, which I fostered through a lot of experiences when I was a medical student. For examples, with participation of summer internship to help children with mitochondrian disease, and with volunteering at family association of leukemia, I found tremendous gratification in sharing of feelings. In addition, I was a member of a NGO named ECPAT, for the human rights with women and children in the world, and I learned the way from professional staff to rescue from sexual abuse and empower them to
As a result, I believe that becoming a pediatrician will allow me to blend the best of both worlds. I was always drawn to working with children as a child, and one summer helping as a camp counselor really opened my eyes to how significant it could be. I recall the delight I felt as I watched young children, grow, and connect with those around them. That incident ignited a fire within me, propelling me to eventually pursue a career in pediatric medicine. I have a strong sense of empathy, which enables me to connect with children and their families on a deeper level.
Scholarship Essay Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to work with kids and help people. I kept going back and forth between being a special education teacher, daycare provider, social worker, etc. I thought of so many things, but nothing really seemed right. Then one day I was watching a show, and the woman was a pediatric nurse.
Write a statement providing information concerning your educational goals and objectives while attending UT Arlington. Discuss your plans for using your education to achieve your personal and professional goals. Goals were introduced to me in the eighth grade, and ever since I have created an immense amount of goals that I have achieved or plan to achieve in the near future. Going into UT Arlington in the Fall I have created two-goals: 1) Through these years I have used time management and backward planning to get me through high school, because I have more freedom it doesn 't mean I have to slack but to push myself to do what is right in achieving my bachelor’s degree and maintaining my GPA at a 3.75 or higher. 2) With the freedom granted in college, I need to make wise decisions
My goals have changed a lot over the last couple of years. Bouncing back and forth between majors and deciding if I even want to be taking college classes right now. I kept asking myself why I should struggle with hard classes when I have a good job right now. But then I stopped and repeated “good job right now.” My job as a twenty year old might support me right now but is it going to support me in ten or fifteen years when I’m trying to buy a house and support my family?
When asked what they want to be when they grow up, most children say astronaut, doctor, president, or veterinarian. I was one of those kids that replied “a veterinarian” when asked by others. Usually, when one gets older, that career goal changes into something different, but not for me. I did not know it then, but my dream of being a veterinarian would stick with me throughout my life, and influence the choices I make in order to reach that long-term goal. I come from a family that expresses an interminable love for animals.
Ten years from now I see myself in college, working to become an allergist. I have my eye set on this goal because I have had to go to this kind of doctor since I was a little girl. I know if I work hard to become an allergist doctor, I would help kids with different kinds of allergies, this would satisfy me more than money would. Going to school now and getting good grades will help me get into a good college. Getting good grades in college will help me get a degree.
“There is simply no substitute for hard work when it comes to achieving success”(Heather Bresch). When it comes to achieving goals there always hard work that needs to be done. Most people believe that they do something big by their size or how they look but that not always true when reaching/getting a goal. This can apply to anywhere in life including High school. Going through High school or freshman year will take all the hard work that a person puts into it.
