According to some people, technology is not an addiction, but according to a report by BBC News, there are over 7 billion mobile device subscriptions and 3.2 billion people use the internet on a regular basis. Are the recent technological advances creating a positive or negative outlook on our society and are we ready for what is to come in the upcoming centuries? Questions still need to be answered. From Thomas Edison's invention of motion picture in 1892 to the invention of a wireless phone in 1973 that can enable telecommunication throughout the world, it is arguable to say that we are in a technological boom. Without his alchemy knowledge, it is impossible for him to feel this way towards his creation. Today, as a society on the rise, human distinguish themselves as god like towards their phones, tablets and laptops because without their power of touching the home button to illuminate light to the screen or the touch of the keyboard to send a message it would not happen. Furthermore, this shows that we suffer an addiction to technology because we fall to the impression that we can make our devices do whatever we ask it to do. Not only are we hooked to our devices, we also show an imbalance in communication skills which Shelley proves to us as Victor is unable to perceive the aspects of a mutual relationship because his relations are based off his own selfishness. Not to mention, as a society that enjoys living in a materialistic world, we find ourselves purchasing stronger, faster and lighter devices
