When someone says something about you and you don’t feel that way, why listen to their opinions when yours is the only one that matters? In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and in Pyramus and Thisbe by Ovid, they should not have listened to others' opinions because in both stories this resulted in death and misunderstandings. Family feuds played a key factor as well. The main characters in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe misunderstood other characters because of their unwillingness to listen. For example, Juliet listened to the opinions of Romeo and they got married far sooner than they should have, which some can say, resulted in their deaths (Shakespeare). If she had listened to her mind, she wouldn’t have fallen so hard, so quickly in the first place and her decisions wouldn’t have been so rash. Furthermore, you can see in Pyramus and Thisbe, that Pyramus ignored his common sense and jumped immediately to the worst possible outcome when he saw the lion’s blood on Thisbe’s shawl. Cleary, it can be seen in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, that their families feud caused the lovers to be secretive about their relationship. This caused Juliet to be so upset about Romeo’s banishment and then having to marry Paris, it drove her to rely on a faulty plan that in the end, caused both of the lovers to kill themselves. Also, in Pyramus and Thisbe, their family's mutiny caused the lovers to talk to each other through a chink in the walls.
