Pyramus and Thisbe vs. Romeo and Juliet “Love Will Make You Do Some Crazy Things”, is a quote that matches perfectly with the love stories of not only Pyramus and Thisbe, but Romeo and Juliet as well. The theme of both stories is Love, but not just love itself. How far are you willing to go to profess your love for one another? Love and double suicide are common within both couples, and for them to be happily ever after they knew only death would bring them closer. Two young lovers; Pyramus and Thisbe, who lived in Babylon with their parents who refused to let the two lovers be happy together. Though their houses were side-by-side they still were not able to see each other, so they “learned to love each other” (Pg. 52) within the circumstances. Neither Pyramus nor Thisbe could bear not being able to see their true love, so an escape plan was formed. The next day they planned “to slip away and steal out through the city…be together in freedom.” (Pg. 52) The night the young lovers decided to run away from home together, the night took a turn for the worse. Once Thisbe got to their meeting spot, she was scared away by a lioness, and in the process of her getting away she dropped her cloak. The lioness got hold of the cloak and covered it blood as she tore it apart. When Pyramus arrived, his lover was no where to be found, but he noticed the blood-stained cloak. After finding the cloak, Pyramus was devastated. He started to blame himself for her “death”, then made the drastic decision to kill himself with his own sword. Thisbe did not want to stand up
