Leadership There are leaders all around the world, but what exactly makes a good leader? Usually a leader has qualities that others are not capable of. One quality of leadership is confidence. Another quality is commitment. Finally, responsibility is a great quality of a leader. One quality all leaders have is confidence. Confidence is crucial to have when something goes wrong. A leader is confident when they are brave in hard situations and keep going even if others are doubting. After the spaceship in Apollo 13 broke, the newspaper editors were doubting Jean and his crew. Commitment is crucial to have if a team ever wants to get anything done. A leader is committed when they are doing the work just like everyone else. Also in the story The Miracle Worker, Anne was trying to teach Helen to eat at a table. Responsibility is crucial to keep things in check. A leader is responsible when they take all the jobs and makes sure they all get done. In The Village Blacksmith, the job was always done from start to finish everyday. It says, “ Each morning sees some task begin, each evening see it close; something attempted, something done.” Every single day the Blacksmith had a task. He always made sure that each task was finished. That is complete responsibility. In Apollo 13 everyone thought that the ship couldn’t make it back. They didn’t know how to get the spaceship home. Jean, the leader of the team on Earth said, “ NASA has never lost an American in space, and we’re not going to lose an American in space on my watch.” Jean explains that he will take full responsibility for what happens. With that mindset he gets the astronauts back to earth
