Today's Canadian government is very different from the government in the film but also has some parallels as well. For example with the election that recently ended, the campaign for the Conservative Party of Canada revolved around instilling fear much like how the Norsefire regime. The Conservatives attempted to fabricate a potential threat of terrorism in the future. The government in the film also fabricated a threat with the exception that that government actually created the threat themselves, an epidemic. This act of creating fear within the citizens was done by both governments, who were offering protection against the current or supposedly future threats, to earn votes of scared people. Our country is moving away from this type of government as proven through the results of the election since the Conservative did not win, meaning their attempt at creating fear was unsuccessful unlike the government in the

This really gave a deep and personal understanding as to just how corrupt the government actually was. This scene stuck with me because of how horrible it was but also how moving, deep, and personal it was at the same time. It really gave a sense of just how bad the people of the nation in this film had things. V for Vendetta is a confusing and pointless film if you aren’t paying attention to the deeper meaning behind it. The film is very important in that it shows how easily a government can gain complete control over a nation by creating fear with its people. It also shows the horrible things a government will do if it takes advantage of its power, and even what people in the real who live in a totalitarian society might have to experience. It inspires people to challenge what they believe is wrong and to have their own ideas and thoughts on what they think is
