Have you ever thought of what life would be like without guidance? In the book, The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, Alyss is forced into this situation. This all stems from her aunt’s hunger for power as this is why her parents, the king and queen, are killed by Alyss’ aunt and why their heir, Alyss, is on the run. Led by her chief bodyguard, Hatter, she is thrown into a strange universe, but as they are transported through the pool, Hatter and Alyss are separated. The challenges that Alyss faces in The Looking Glass Wars are that nobody is there to guide her, her malicious aunt wants to kill her, and she is told she failed the maze.

As the boys climb this mountain to get home they face new challenges which resulted them to descend into savagery. With these new challenges of killing the pig for the first time, them breaking the conch, and deaths of Simon and Piggy they to descend into savagery causing them to lose their innocence. After the boys crash landed on the island it was only a matter of time before the boys descend into savagery because lack of leadership, need for survival and loss of innocence. Their first goal on the island was to have fun and get rescued but throughout their stay, they get further away from that.

The book Hardball by Chris Matthews gives deep insight about politics. Throughout the book Chris explains different strategies or concepts used in politics, also know as political maxims. He explains how they are used, how they work, and he gives historical evidence showcasing each political maxim. There are many quotes in Hardball taken from history that are used to explain and demonstrate different political maxims. This is a quote used in the book coming from previous president Jimmy Carter.

In Lord of the Flies there is a war between civilization and chaos. The side of chaos is Jack’s side and the civil side is Ralph’s side. Jack’s side has no hope for civilization, there is just chaos because all they want to do is eat, sleep, kill and repeat. In the end chaos takes over the island, but there is hope for civilization.

Making sure that you have constant eye contact with the audience will help sound you more credible. Most importantly making sure that the topic that you have chosen makes sense to what you are doing. While listening to the current even speech that Napoleon Dynamite did and the speech that SpongeBob Square Pants did it is clear that one has practiced more and demonstrated better speech concepts.

This quote is saying that the killing of soldiers in war will soon destroy all. This relates to both stories because both soldiers regretted killing someone.

Including the phrase, “Happiness is a prison... Happiness is the most insidious prison of all” (169/1). In this quote, V is alluding to the sense that if one is content in their current situation, they will see no need to fix the issues around them. V went through the oppression firsthand that the British Norse fire had to give, and Evey was of the key demographic, it took exposure to that oppression for Evey to make a solution to the society.

In Harper Lee’s ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, the mad dog is used as a reflection of many different struggles faced by specific characters as well as society as a whole. Foremost, the dog represents everything Atticus is facing in the novel. He has internal struggles, like many main characters, such as having to choose between right and wrong as well as fighting more physical things such as the jury. This leads into the next point: the dog represents discrimination and hatred itself in the novel.
