In the novel The Lovely Bones written by Alice Sebold, 14 year old Susie Salmon is brutally raped and murdered by her next door neighbor, Mr Harvey. In heaven, Susie can see the people she loved struggling with not knowing the answers to what had happened to her, but she could also see her killer interacting with the ones she loved. While her family deals with their grief, Susie deals with new and hard decisions; Her experience with exile is both alienating and enriching but creates something so much bigger towards the end. Susie’s main desire in her heaven was to grow up. She watched her killer walk the streets free and her family slowly fall apart.
The Hound of the Baskervilles first takes place in Sherlocks office in 221b Baker street in London, England. The story is about the case of the death of Sir Charles Baskerville. While Sherlock and Dr. Watson unravel clues and evidence like the anonymous warning notes and the theft of a shoe ,they come to figure out that Stapleton was the culprit. The tone of the novel is eerie and suspenseful as seen in the authors use of diction, imagery, and details.

As a result of Christopher overcoming his fears and solving his internal conflict Christopher develops into a much more confident and capable version of himself.
Jeannette Walls’ Memoir, “The Glass Castle”, tells a story of a dysfunctional family who uses magic, fantasy, and life lessons to get through their hectic lives. Jeannette starts off her book with such a story about seeing her mother ramming through garbage in New York City. Jeannette feels a sense of shame about her Mom’s life and begins to reflect on her childhood and how her parents’ choices affected her. If you ask me I would say it was very dramatic, which grabs your attention knowing someone is telling about their own life intrigued me to keep reading.

Usually, if those rules are disobeyed, destruction and disorder are bound to come our way. This act is prevalent in two stories, Beowulf and The Lord of the Flies, that were written centuries apart, but yet the concept of how ignoring rules can lead to the downfall of societies is common in both. Usually, a well-built society derives from a strong leader who has the characteristics of guiding people to do the right actions. Such an example would be Beowulf who is viewed as a God-like hero and is highly respected.

Huck encounters immoral situations on the shore of the Mississippi River.
