The Author Wes had to make an important decision that would point him into the right direction by getting enrolled into military school, and deciding to join college too. The Other Wes got his General Education Diploma (GED) and was enrolled in the Job Corps to try and turn his life around by leaving the drug game, ultimately wanting to provide more for his kids in the future. Things were not easy for the family after the father passed away. Wes grew up not knowing his father and that would be hard on anyone. During Wes’s early years of education he wasn’t the brightest student, he went through some times where his grades and behavior got him into some trouble. If it wasn’t for Wes’s mother, Joy, seeing that Wes was starting to go down the wrong path in school Wes could have every easily ended up like most kids on the streets. Wes began to change as a person when his mother made the sacrifices of handling multiple jobs to send him to Valley Forge Military Academy. At first Wes didn’t like the thought of Military School, he even tried to escape it because it was to hard on him Wes knew that Military School was the best fit for him not only to attend to become a better man but attend so he could achieve his main goal and that was to finish the Military Academy. Not only would attending the Military Academy help him become a better man but it also helped him in the future by learning many life lessons while being enrolled. After Valley Forge, Wes became very successful, one of his greatest achievements was the fact that he became a Rhodes Scholar. Not only was Wes’s goal to finish the Military Academy, his goal was to also become a better man, someone that millions of kids could look up to for help whenever they needed
