REI is an organization that leverages its social and environmental stewardship to attract and retain top employees. REI also use social media to communicate its organizational culture to employees, co-op members, and potential new hires. Self-Reflection in the case of REI can interplay with a person professional experience. REI philosophy can support or disconnect with others leadership style. This organization could be a great model for others to learn from. Recreational Equipment Inc. is a co-op company that started in 1938 (REI Overview, 2018). leverages its social and environmental stewardship to attract and retain top employees by giving its employees what they call a “Yay day”. This day is a paid day for employees to have off, to go outdoors and participate in company related activities with company product. This not only allows the employees to possibly enjoy themselves, it also allows them to have hands on knowledge of the company products upon addressing customers in an attempt to sell or advertise products (Bethel University, 2017). Recreational Equipment Inc. also uses social media to share pictures of things like pictures of their “yay day”. This type of display helps their employees to provide the company with wide range marketing exposure. This exposure helps to captivate the attention of more job seekers and more customer attention to the company (Bethel University, 2017). How Recreational Equipment Inc. conducts business with their employees and customers definitely can have a major effect on how others view their professional experience with other companies.
