1. Compare and contrast the RTI model and the traditional method of identifying and serving struggling students.
RTI is early Identification, there is usually more collaboration between the general education teacher and the special education teacher, everybody can receive TIER 1 intervention from the Tier system.
The traditional method sometimes groups students into the special education category when this is not the appropriate place for them.
RTI is a tiered system, and the students are identified based on their need for general education instruction.
The traditional method does not follow progress monitoring or collaboration.
2. What are the two ways in which Tier 3 instruction differs from that provided in Tiers 1 and 2?

Systematic instruction is used to build lessons on one another by starting with simple skills and progressing to more complex skills as time moves on. Explicit instruction focuses on the desired learning outcomes while providing instruction that connects prior learning with new concepts. Corrective feedback is going to help students understand any misconceptions they might have. Corrective feedback, frequent review lets the students revisit concepts to achieve mastery. Allowing students opportunities for practice, is a way to ensure they are maintaining the skills that are presented.
