In \cite{Romauera92}, Romaguera pointed out that if $X=\mathbb{R}^+$ and $p : X \times X\to \mathbb{R}^+$ defined by $p(x, y) = \max\{x, y\}$ for all $x, y \in X$ then ${CB}^p(X)=\emptyset$ and the approach used in Theorem \ref{THM201} and elsewhere has a disadvantage that the fixed point theorems for self-mappings may not be derived from it, when ${CB}^p(X)=\emptyset$. To overcome from this problem he introduced the concept of mixed multi-valued mappings and obtained a different version of Nadler's theorem in a partial metric spaces. \begin{definition} Let $(X, p)$ be a partial metric space. A mapping $T : X \to X \cup {CB}^p(X)$ is called a mixed multi-valued mapping on $X$ if $T$ is a multi-valued mapping on $X$ such that for each $x\in X$
The Crazies to Say the Least “David leans on the sideline fence, sipping his coffee, watching the game. No one has yet noticed the dark figure walking out of the shadowy woods beyond the outfield. Weaving like a drunkard, he walks right onto the playing field, oblivious to the game. He is carrying a shotgun. Heads turn, mouths falling open in the bleachers and dugouts, everybody staring in collective disbelief.
With his bravery and determination he helped to eradicate slavery, and all people of color were free, never again to be enslaved therefore reiterating the saying, “once free, always
The films that I chose to explore in this paper are Do the Right Thing by Spike Lee and Lone Star by John Sayles. Each film offers examples of counter narratives in my opinion. There are many examples of characters vying for both power and respect from characters of the other race. Spike Lee, however, has an undeniably unique style that offers a counter on many levels.
The movie that I choose to watch was Fences (2016). Throughout the movie discursive rhetoric is used a lot to show racism back in the 1950's. Troy is mostly talking with others about how inequality is occurring around them and how racism played a role in the job opportunities that blacks had or did not have. Black men were not allowed to drive the dumpster trucks. I feel that this movie hinderd me a little it could have improved by showing the interaction between the whites and black, instead of just hearing the characters talk about it.
The 2000 film Remember the Titans does an amazing job with the extreme social issue of discrimination. In the film, Herman Boone had just been hired to be the new football coach of T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia. The school had just been told to integrate so the whites and blacks all go to the same school now, as well as go on the same bus. Coach Boone and the former head coach Bill Yoast both go up to football camp with the new team. While they are up there, the team learns the meaning of working as a team no matter what color you are.
Though, we can report the huge impact his death had on the memory of the hugest civil rights activist during that time. His death “Inspired Rosa Parks, the ‘Mother of the Civil Rights Movement,’ to challenge discrimination in Montgomery on 1 December 1955, a couple of months after” (The Legacy of Emmett Till). His demise also “empowered numerous young black leaders in the 1950s and 1960s forward – Eldridge Cleaver, Anne Moody, Joyce Ladner, Sam Block, and Muhammad
In the wildly popular Mexican film, Los olvidados (1950), Spanish director Luis Buñuel exposes the harsh realities of life in Mexico during the 1950’s. Luis Buñuel’s work on Los olvidados portrays a societal loss for all hope due to crime and violence as an infinitely vicious cycle, coupled with addressing the lack of reform for dilapidated living conditions throughout Mexico. In Los olvidados, Buñuel follows Pedro (Alfonso Mejía) a neglected bastard, and El Jaibo (Roberto Cobo) the leader of a gang of homeless children loitering in vacant lots. For Pedro, and the rest of the cast, a series of unfortunate outcomes have been strung together though common ignorance and a lack of self-control. Luis Buñuel’s use of focal length, editing, and dialogue
He changed so many people’s lives throughout the course of his. For 16 years, he edited an influential black newspaper and achieved international fame as an inspiring and persuasive speaker and writer. Until the day of his death, he continued to improve the lives of those who went through what he went
He fought to make sure that African-Americans were not be born into a completely white dominated society and fought for true
In the year 1945 Fritz Lang directed Scarlet Street, a truly classical film noir. The screenplay consists of two criminals who take advantage of a middle-aged painter in order to steal his artwork. Absolutely one of the finest of all film noirs, Fritz Lang’s Scarlet Street is a remake of Jean Renoir’s La Chienne. These two films share essentially the same structure. “The ineffectual nebbishy cashier and protagonist, Maurice Legrand in La Chienne and Chris Cross in Scarlet Street, demonstrates a level of cowardice and naiveté in grown men that is simply unforgivable, thereby resulting in a fate that must be tragic” (Hassannia Para. 1).
The Abolitionists Growing up as a Christian I never could understand how people claimed to be saved or god’s servant but yet can discriminate against skin color. I was taught God is of love regardless of skin color, size or how the person looks. Such as Caucasians with African Americans and even so how could they attend church but yet have slave servants in their home? As shown in the documentary most of the film was a conflict about slavery and the few whites that was against it. Such as “Angelina Grimké” a Caucasians female Christian who despised slavery and watch her parents live with it with no moral or self-respected.
This speech was delivered solely to benefit their future in America. Because he was an African American as well and his past mirrored what they were going through, people connected to him. He wasn’t living lavish and speaking on topics he knew nothing about. He has lived life and he was living the life of an African American. That title came with its own trials and tribulations that each of them related to.
In the film 12 Years a Slave the editor, Joe Walker, makes use of a couple of techniques and styles that adds to the film in its own way. Long shots – Joe kept the long shots as long as he thought was necessary to add to the subject matter and the feeling he wanted to bind with the story. At the end of the film there’s this extremely long shot where Solomon is practically staring at the camera for about a minute and a half. The timing of that shot is so perfect because it’s not too short so you don’t have enough time to think about what just happened or too much time to overthink the situation. Closer to the end of the shot he lets the sound fade slowly and rapidly gives you a wakeup call when the next shot starts off where Solomon and the rest of the slaves are busy working in the field.
