The NBA did not desegregate until the late 1950’s roughly 5 years after baseball had fully Integrated. Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton and Earl Lloyd were the first African Americans to be over Drafted in the second round by the Boston Celtics. Beforehand there were African American Teams, in the 1904 they were called black fives. They were branches outside of the YMCA, During the black fives era the teams emerged out of the cities: New York, Washington, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Cleveland. Thesis From the mid 1910s to the early 1960s there were many riots that occured, because of racial tensions built up between the the whites and the blacks world wide. Coming from Will Brown being accused of rapping a young white girl, and to Eugene Williams having rocks thrown at him causing him to drown. Segregation at this time was unjustified due to racism still being heavily considered as the right thing to do. These riots caused the United States to be even more segregated, due to unequal rights and no laws being created at the time to help and protect African Americans. Dr. CJ, Racial divide is much like other issues we face in a fallen world, in that it will never be eradicated. With that said, I am still optimistic that we can decrease the amount of discontent toward first responders in our communities by matching the mission statements of the organizations with their actions. Or in simple terms, make the organizations more diverse which is in many cases responding to their needs. Racial minorities and those who are born and raised in a lower socioeconomic environment often lack access to adequate healthcare, education, etc. which can affect the quality of their life and lifespan. Due to the lack of resources and opportunities experienced by minorities, they are more likely to experience the cycle of poverty (poor families remain impoverished for three or more generations). If a person is from a middle or upper class background it can definitely be assumed that they will live longer. Having a large or excessive amount of resources/money allows you to access/acquire the very best healthcare, nutritional coaches, food, etc.
Racial Profiling The Civil Rights Act of 1964, ended segregation and banned employment discrimination on the bias of race, color, and ethnicity. The act promotes equality to all people. Everyone has a right to feel and be equal. That is hard to do when someone is constantly being targeted because of the color of their skin.
