Rachel Carson who is a scientist, conservationist and last but not least, a writer, wrote an outstanding article that motivated me to research more about current pesticide usage. I personally believe that the use of pesticides not only harms us, but in addition our environment. Although is may seem convenient for farmers to use pesticides on farms, there are some bad side effects to it. Some pesticides are killing animals, hurting our environment and last but not least, contaminating our, “fresh food” with toxic chemicals. Suzuki was passionate about human society evolving as a culture, which at one point has led to pesticide usage. Suzuki Quoted, “The more involved I became in the environmental issues, the clearer it became to me that my rather simple-minded approach wouldn’t work, because we were too ignorant to anticipate the consequences of our activity and to set appropriate limits”(Suzuki 65). He meant that society was blinded of the consequences of our own creation, “pesticides.” Therefore, we continuously used what we thought was good for us as a tool and did not see the negative effects or problems until they took its place. We did not have any boundaries set up until the birds began to disappear and Carson took her stand. Another outside resource that stood out to me was an online article called, “The Pros and Cons of Pesticide and Fertilizers” by Rachel Delp. The article talked once again about the environmental and health problems of pesticides. Delp Avazpour
