Abstract
Rights are afforded to everyone. Even those that are being accused or suspected of committing crimes. The population also has needs outside of their rights afforded by the criminal justice system. This paper will explore those needs of the population by discussing how the criminal justice professionals fill needs. The criminal justice professionals have roles and duties to meet those needs of individuals as well as the needs of society. Serving the public is the main duty of serving in this profession not only in a negative light by punishing those with the law but, also upholding justice, security, and protection to society. Knowing this, what would one say that this would play in perception and the social stereotypes of our society today for our criminal justice system? As of late, a lot of current perceptions and stereotypes play into the fact that the criminal justice system is the oppressive tool that creates the racial inequality because of how easily accessible social media is now days. Criminal justice professionals must always be aware when making choices and justifying their actions in serving the public with justice, security, and protection to society in the world we live in of a multicultural and diverse population. Justice is the first example and is used throughout the criminal justice system by judges, prosecutors, and defense authorities by ensuring there is rapid justice. The example of justice would be the right to a speedy trial or our sixth amendment right in the constitution and trial by jury. Judges, prosecutors, and defense authorities by upholding to this right are serving a need to the criminal by ensuring everything is fair throughout their trial. These efforts make the overall operation of the system quick, speedy, and smoother meanwhile, not violating the rights of the defendant. Next, is the security of the population and serving the need without harming others. The courtroom also can be used as an example of this need. The environment of the courtroom being safe is another one of the needs the criminal justice professionals owe to every person. Following all of the rules of the U.S. constitution while prosecuting a defendant with the facts of the case still must be followed for the population.
