In the play Othello by William Shakespeare prejudice and bias plays a role, racial prejudice is displayed because Othello is black this is most shown to work against him one of the first scenes Lago and Rodrigo would call Othello racial slurs and words to describe Othello simply because he was the only known black character in the play he would usually be known as an outcast who doesn’t fit in. Othello has been treated differently so often because of his skin color and race. When Othello finds out about Desdemona's “affair” as to him he sees he has lost his “honor” he's seen to internalize the prejudice by calling himself racial terms. victims or the ones having a prejudice against the other characters during the play which affected them in a way example was the hatred of women Desdemona never had a chance to explain what had happened and Othello just believed right what Iago was telling him, feeding lies to him so much that Othello eventually gave in and started to “put the pieces together” which Othello sees Cassio with a handkerchief that he gave to Desdemona which before his father had given to his mother knowing this gives more of an understanding why he started to believe Iago and become angry since the only way
Cassio could have that is by being with Desdemona and then she gives it to him. The handkerchief was given as a token of Othello’s affection and fidelity he has for her
