Radiographer’s positive attitude towards Geriatric patient is essential in all the hospitals. The important role of radiographers in delivering care has been widely and consistently recognized as they are accountable for providing both physical and personal care including emotional support to geriatric patients (Drennan, 2004). Due to changing population demographics, there is growing worldwide need for registered radiographers who are knowledgeable and who commit in working for Geriatric Patient (Plonczynski, 2007). Geriatric patient are often viewed as radiographer’s burden and an obstacle to the more important work of caring for younger adults (Dahlke S, 2008).

Negligence refers to the neglect or omission of reasonable care or caution (O'Donovan, 2015). The standard of reasonable care depends on radiographer. In the relationship between radiographer and geriatric patient, the radiographer is responsible to provided reasonable care towards their geriatric patient that can lead to good interactions between them (Poi, 2000). As mentioned earlier, geriatric patients are very sensitive and need proper attentions. Due to the negligence of radiographers, geriatric patients may sustained some loss or injury. Another study concluded that, there are also accidents occur at medical imaging department to geriatric patients due to negligence of radiographers and staffs (Doherty, 2011). So, they really deserve good and quality service in a good manner by a radiographer. Beyer and Diedricks mentioned, a radiographer should have a good relationship with their geriatric patients just to gain patient’s trust on them (Beyer, 2010). This is because most of the geriatric patients are unaware of what is going on, will be worrying and thinking too much on what is the radiographer going to do. Moreover, they will be away from their family members when the radiology examination is being done. Therefore, the radiographer is responsible to respect and handle them with full of care. According to the code of ethics, a radiographer should provide the service to patient without considering about the patient’s age, gender, race, disability or economic status.
