The Assassination of Rafael Trujillo
Rafael Trujillo, dictator of the Dominican Republic, almost the equivalent of Adolf Hitler. Rafael Trujillo was the most corrupted, arrogant, disastrous, beastly, inadequate dictators in the history of the Dominican Republic. His time as dictator was known as the Trujillo era. All the things that Trujillo has done have led up to his well-deserved assassination. Trujillo caused chaos for his country. He created gangs, got his president assassinated, attacked other countries and plenty more. Rafael Trujillo was killed when his blue Chevrolet Bel Air was ambushed on the road outside the Dominican Capitol. He was killed by numerous amounts of men, and with them were General Juan Tomas Diaz, Antonio de la Maza, Amado Garcia Guerrero, and General Antonio Imbert Barrera. His family took immediate action and killed six out of the seven assassins. The family was grieving while the country rejoiced to be free of their cruel dictator. …show more content…

One of them is the way he betrayed his country to get to the top. Trujillo was part of the National Guard in 1919 and trained for the U.S marines and earned the rank of general only nine years later. When a rebellion soon broke out against President Horacio Vasquez, Trujillo made special connections with the rebel leader Estrella Urena so he could run for the new elections. AS soon as the rebels captured the capital, Trujillo was the only candidate to run. Trujillo won with 95% of the vote and immediately took the dictatorial powers. Trujillo became a ruthless man to get to the top, taking everyone down with
