I think the characters that try to search a better way of life in the Raisin in the Sun are Walter Lee Younger and Lena Younger (Mama). I think they do this to help their family prosper. They also want their family to gain money and let their kids/ grandkids have whatever they want and not let them live in poor conditions. They wanted to live up to their families expectation. When they first really wanted to search a better way of life was when the insurance money of Papa. They got the ten thousand because Papa had died and the insurance company gave them the money for it. Then there was a dispute over how to use the money. The way that Walter Lee wanted to use the money was very selfish abut the motive/ purpose behind it is very reasonable. The outcome of this situation than Walter Lee picked is very attractive because the outcome would be a lot more money but in the same side it was very risky and very dangerous. Walter Lee wanted the money so he could open a liquor store with or like his friends. He only wanted to invest in that kind of business because he thought he could get rich off of a liquor store. Mama was strictly against it and wanted to do something that would benefit all and not just Walter Lee. Mama gave him the rest of the money that was left over from what Mama had spent. This showed that Mama had trusted Walter Lee with all the left over money. Walter Lee then just invested every bit of the money on the liquor store and gave it all to Willy Harris. Willy Harris was one of Walter Lee’s friends. Walter Lee trusted him with all of the money but then Willy Harris ran away with all the money and disappeared. This caused Walter Lee to Hate
