In Lord of the Flies, one of the main characters Ralph represents leadership and order, because Ralph had the conch and it represents order he is in charge. The boys had a vote to choose a leader, the boys voted and Ralph got the most, therefore, Ralph was the leader of the boys. “He lifted the conch.”seems to me we ought to have a chief to decide things””. (ch. 1 pg. 11) As you can see, he wanted there to be order that’s why he said they needed a chief. “Ralph is somewhat charismatic and is chosen for chief, who makes it his job to lay down rules and try to organize a society. “ Ralph was leader which means he had to lay down ruler and order, so everything runs correctly, so there isn’t much chaos. “The boys all think that he's "batty"; he likes to be by himself and sometimes does and says strange things.” All in all, Simon may be a tad bit batty, but he knows something the boys don’t, he knows what the beast actually is. As a result, the different sides of humanity destroyed each other. The boys that started following Jack caught most of the island on fire trying to capture Ralph, but because of the fire Ralph was smoked out causing him to run towards the sand, finding rescuers. Jack took Piggy's glasses causing him to not be able to see therefore, when Piggy went to get his glasses from Jack, some of the boys ended up pushing a bolder onto his head. Since Simon was caught in the middle he ended up going insane, causing him to put the pig's head on his head, which caused the boys to believe he was the beast, so they ended up accidentally killing him. In the end, all the boys turned against each other, which caused a war between good and evil, showing the different sides of humanity.
