There are several qualities that make a good leader, william golding wrote lord of the flies which describes a leader named ralph who lead a group of boy who were stranded on an island by a fallen. The boy selected ralph over a raise of hands, over his opponent jack. Ralph was a better leader choice over jack because, of his better thinking, ability to prioritize, and selfless personality. Thinking is a fundamental trait, thinking can make or break a leader. A leader has to analysis and make decisions and most the time they are not easy decisions. Ralph the main leader or “chief” on in the island in the lord of flies is a excellent thinker and is able to make decisions not only for himself but those he leads. In the passage the lord of flies the author states we want to be rescued, and of cause we shall be rescued. Voices babbled. The simple statement , unbacked by any proof but the weight of ralph’s authority brought light and happiness. When ralph made this statement he was thinking of the future of the people of the island not only himself, jack being is competition for leadership thinks of himself before others and to a leader that is a handicap. Ralph shows several examples of using priorities when he makes it especially import to keep the fire lit. the reason he does this is because he is very vigilant and does not want to miss the opportunity to be rescued. But jack ends up vandalizing his efforts when he goes hunting for the pig instead of taming the fire and eventually while the hunters and their leaders jack were pursuing the pig a plane went over the island and a rescue window was closed to to his
