Sybil Ludington’s Ride Paul Revere is famous for the ride he made in the night to warn the colonists of the approaching British soldiers. What is not well-known is that Sybil Ludington, a 16-year-old girl, made a similar ride in 1777. Sybil lived with her family in New York during the Revolutionary War. Her father was a colonel in the American army fighting the British government. One night a messenger came to Sybil’s home to warn her father that the British soldiers were attacking the nearby town of Danbury, Connecticut.

Ruth is a better mother because she strives to teach her kids morals that will help them in the future, whereas Beth is not bad mother because she doesn’t care about anyone but her self.
Most people will have obstacles in their life, and many of these people say the important thing is how does one deals with them. In Mary Oliver’s poem “Crossing the Swamp” she writes about someone's experience with an obstacle. An author named Arthur Miller wrote the play The Crucible based of the true events of the Salem witch trials. In the play some girls get in trouble for dancing in the woods. They claim the witches were making them do these bad things. The girls accused a lot of people and got a lot of people of hang for being witches.
Adversity can take us by surprise, but everyone at some point in life experiences it. The way our personal identity can be shaped is through our phases of adversity. The experiences of dealing with difficulties can shape the way we view life and the actions that will show our persona. When we persevere adversity and obstacles it shows our reputation and our true type of identity. Kafka illustrates that when one exploits another’s weakness, they are able to gain a sense of empowerment, which leads to a false sense of security in the social hierarchy. This is illustrated through Grete and her occuring metamorphosis. When one find the achilles’ heel of another, they learn exploit it to gain a sense of superiority, which leads them to believe a false sense of rise in the social hierarchy. One way Morpurgo demonstrates the conflict between the powerful and the weak is the situation on the battlefront. On the battlefront, Sergeant Hanley acts in a very harsh and a mean way, and he says to Charlie “You’re a blot of creation.” (Morpurgo, 117) This makes the impression of the battlefront very bad for the soldiers and causes them to have no control over anything they want to do.
