Randall Woodfield, or better known as the I-5 Killer, has officially been linked to seven killings, however, some people believe that he is responsible for upwards of 44 as well as 60 sexual assault incidents. Woodfield’s first major crimes started out with him holding women at knifepoint and forcing them to perform oral sex on him, and then he would rob their purses. This was quickly put to an end however and was sentenced to 10 years in jail, but got out early on parole. After being released, Woodfield escalated his crimes to murder and rape. His first incident of this was with a woman named Cherie Ayers, an x-ray technician who he had known since second grade. Ayers was found dead and had been raped, however, the police could not gather …show more content…
Woodfield had broken into their home planning to assault Fix, but found Keith there as well, changing his plans. Instead of assaulting Darcey Fix, Woodfield tied Fix and Keith up and killed them both execution style. Just like his previous crime, however, there was no concrete evidence on Woodfield to convict him. After the Fix and Keith incident, Woodfield began a string of robberies throughout the northwest from 1980-1981. His first robbery was on December 9 in Vancouver where he held up a gas station at gunpoint. Then on December 13, he raided an ice cream parlor in Eugene, Oregon. (SC4) After that short spree, Woodfield traveled to southern Orgeron on January 26 and 29 and committed robberies in Eugene, Medford, and Grant Pass. Two women had also been assaulted by the robber (Randall Woodfield). A couple of days went by and Woodfield struck again. On February 3 in Mountain Gate, California, a mother and her daughter were found, both shot in the head and the daughter had been sexually assaulted. The mother’s name was Donna Eckard. Without time to think about his actions, Woodfield struck again on the same day in Redding, California, kidnapping and raping a store clerk. Once again, not waiting much time after his last crime, Woodfield held up a fabric store on February 9 in Corvallis, and molested both the clerk and her customer, and committed robberies three days later in Vancouver, Olympia, and Bellevue, Washington. His last crime was committed on February 15, 1981, when he would kill and rape Julie Reitz in her own home. (Randall Woodfields Biography)
