At first, Randy is shown to be like the other Socs and Bob, who beats up greasers for fun. However, later in the book, Randy has a change of heart after being affected by Bob's demise, and wants to stop all the fighting. Randy knew his dad would be furious once he told him he was part of Bob’s death. With his short curly hair and goatee he was a very intimidating man. He often punished Randy harshly for the littlest things, like not scoring very well on his math test. So, to think that Randy was part of a murder, his dad’s punishment for him would be extravagant. He couldn’t hide his involvement with the murder for any longer since his was getting suspicious of his mysterious disappearance when he went to testify. The third day after the trial Randy grudgingly walked home. Today was the day he’s going to tell his dad. He walked in the room and told his dad the story.
