Through this great amount of time spent at the site, I have noticed many occasions where people have held conversations and sympathized with one another despite their cultural backgrounds. On the swim team alone, there are people from at least five different countries, if not more. Each individual
I was extremely excited and eager to learn, however, not everyone felt the same. I was scrolling through Twitter when I saw one of my classmate's tweets, which said, "Racism
The most important aspect of modern life that Bradbury got wrong was that he predicted society to become ultimately desensitized and that ridding of our favorite aspects of life would fly under the radar. Because of social media and smartphones, citizens have become hyper sensitized to anything and everything. Rather than pushing things away and ignoring all emotion, we freak out and over analyze things that happen, and this is amplified by social media. Rather than becoming desensitized like the citizens in Bradbury 's future, we have become over sensitive and are offended in some way by almost everything that is said or done. We are able to access these things by social media, which is a great platform to grieve in great detail why the thing
Like many of you, I had the unfortunate experience of watching a video of Frederick Stanley Jones delivering a speech on Memorial Day filled with hate-filled rhetoric. After carefully rewatching and reflecting on Stan Jones' troubling words and many people asking me my thoughts, I feel compelled to respond and hope someone can share my message with him. On a day meant to honor and remember the brave men and women who have selflessly served our great nation, many veterans, elected officials, and members of the public were presented with a speech that, instead of uniting us in gratitude and reverence, had the opposite effect. Instead of a day where we set aside our differences and come together to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate
Religion I Am Rant Reflection This rant was inspired by a “I am Canadian” rant which was created to eliminate the stereotypies towards Canadians. A stereotype is a general statement about one’s culture; what they eat, wear, wear they live, what they do and who they are. Some of the ones included in the I Am Canadian rant were that Canadians are fur traders or lumberjacks or that they say aboot instead of about. When I made this rant I focused on stereotypes created towards Arabs or more specifically Egyptians.
The social network site that i 'm going to do my rhetorical analysis on is my facebook social media page. I 'm 22 years old I started my facebook page when I was 14. I 'm a female college junior. On social media I talk a lot about relationships, school, work, babies, parents. Majority of the people who I am friends with on facebook are between the ages of 16-50+.
Before I start my rant I just want to say that I am Pro black and no that does not mean that I am anti white! I just have 1 question for my woke or pro black friends! Why is it that every single time a black individual chooses to start a movement or spread something that they deem positive or a possible solution, other pro black people shut it down or have something negative to say? That shit is so irritating! Example: The cease fire movement was met with comments like "So why not put the guns down everyday?"
Yet getting to know some of these members will show you a different culture, along with the sense of brotherhood and family they strive to
There are '' kind '' people from many countries, and they coexist together in a room, though they are similar in appearance or background
In November of 2008, the United States elected the first African American president, Barack Obama. Although racism is a thing of the past, people today still have different views on African Americans. That being said, when Obama was elected, it caused uproar in some communities, NC state being one of them. As we all know, everyone has their right to freedom of speech says the first amendment; therefore, people began to say inappropriate things in regards to the situation. At NC State University, students wrote racist comments referring to Obama on a walkway in the middle of campus called the “free expression tunnel”, made for students to express ideas using graffiti.
Modern America along with the world, is becoming increasingly more accepting of diversity; meaning more of us are freely expressing ourselves. There will always be conflict about beliefs and feelings towards one another. Most people keep their own beliefs to themselves, then there is the type of individuals that feel they must put their beliefs into action and hurt others or destroy things to get their point across. Those actions performed by that type of person are called hate crimes. Hate crimes have significantly increased over the past few years and are getting worse each day.
Brandon Heard Prof Richard Johson Criminal Justice Administration 506 1001 3/29/23 Social Media with Criminal Justice and judges The use of social media platforms has become ubiquitous in today's society, and its influence can be seen in all aspects of contemporary life, including the practice of law. This is because social media platforms allow users to share and discuss content in real time. A growing number of judges, much like other types of professionals, are turning to social media in order to network with their fellow professionals, advertise their work, and communicate with members of the general public.
The topic of discrimination and hate crimes is something that has become more prevalent in our society today with the usage of social media than it has ever been before. It is not a concept that is unfamiliar to our generation. We grow up watching this happened in front of our eyes online. We hear about it in the news. We see it in our workplace.
Everyday People are judging other based off there race and religion. In my school a lot of kids are seeing things they see in the news and are bringing it into the school. They are discriminating against each others race and religion and it all needs to stop. We all need to come together as one and fight against everything that is going on in the world. If us students were to all come together then we could make a difference because we are the countries future
