Music: A way to convey one’s emotions to others through different notes and rhythms. Though not many people can create this form of art, anybody can enjoy, and interpret it in their own way. All music takes talent to write, but as time has passed, it is a common opinion that music has lost the meaning behind it. In order to make it to the top of the charts, the talent needed has declined. The lyrical meaning, as well as the feeling in the notes has all lost the amount of meaning it once contained. Progressive music has proven itself very complex, and difficult to write, whereas rap has become easier to write. Lyrics, though not necessarily required, help explain the meaning of the songs. Even if the music was immensely difficult, performing it would be as simple as hitting “play”, taking away any musical talent required to play live. Many drummers practiced for years, studying every aspect of the art, developing skills to perform the music they love. In fact, every instrument in a band takes years of practice and hours of practice to get where they are. Guitarists like David Gilmour, John Petrucci, and Adam Jones have all spent a large majority of their lives committed to their art, and have or will be committed for most of their lives to come. As time has gone on, and genres like Progressive Rock have died and Mumble Rap have been born, music has become simpler and easier to write. The lyrical meaning and structure have become yelling about money they acquire over a 4/4 beat, and the difficulty of performing has dropped dramatically. The instruments have become computers, making generic sounds over and over. Though music requiring talent still exists, it is much more difficult to
