Institutional racism was depicted in Marissa Alexander’s case. Marissa Alexander had stopped by Rico Gray’s house to visit him. Racism and segregation has a mass history in the United States which impacted our society greatly. There were many riots, boycotts, and strikes which occurred throughout the 1900’s. Many people simply wanted peace and to bring everyone together no matter what race or color and others wanted to be separated from people with a different skin color and race. Whites and blacks were being separated from bathrooms and even restaurants. This resulted in conflict between our society which left many killed and injured.
Racism has been around for a long time and it still exists today. It has been embedded to a degree that it reproduces itself. It is in the culture of the future generation. What is seen and taught to us in our environment is how we learn our behavior and actions towards others. Because of this, whether we realize it or not, racist behavior is taught and passed on.
Around the early 1900s, racism was prominent and wasn't sugarcoated either. African Americans had to deal with many obstacles around this period because of the discrimination involed in their lives. These actions effected many African Americans because it forced some of them to hate the world and limit many of their opportunities in life. People try to say that racism doesn 't exist anymore, that it is a thing in the past. While in reality, that is not the case. People all over the world still hold racist thoughts towards people of color. Sometimes it’s not even purposefully, but it is just an engrained habit, which is called internalized racism. To some, even though they believe that racism still exists, they believe that their aren 't any negative effects, that is just an opinion.

We see it every day, some have even been confronted by racial discrimination, or racial slurs even. We see how the system could be for example: how blacks continue to get more severe punishments or blacks have higher the chance to get criminally sentenced than whites.
Racism is a part of American history that can never be forgotten; a dark past that shows the constant mistreatment of African-Americans. Although African-Americans were freed from slavery in the 1860’s, discrimination continues to be seen today. Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one 's own race is superior. The white supremacy woven into mainstream American culture led to the continued widespread exclusion of African-Americans.
The article “Let Rachel Dolezal Be as Black as She Wants to Be” by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar purposely targeting the audiences of those criticize Rachel Dolezal as a liar and untruthful of being a black woman. The point that the author trying to persuade is to change the way we perceived Dolezal as a person. Perhaps, consider what she has done and will be doing to assist the black community in the future. Jabbar supports how Dolezal is the “chairwoman of a police oversight committee monitoring fairness in police activities”, meanwhile, black people will have a better chance off mistreatment toward their race. In additionally, we cannot blame her for the influences she came to adapt through her African-American siblings.

There are many ideas thrown around as to how racism began though the truth lies in the history of mankind. Before people were able to travel and experience difference groups of people we predominantly stayed in the same kind of area with the same kind of people. We feared things that were different and were lacked the power to face those kinds of things. All this changed once we did in fact obtain this level of human advancement but the fear never drifted. The truth is racism began as soon as people faced those of different races.
Racism has always existed with humans. Racism is treating someone differently of unfairly simply because they belong to a different ethnic community of have a different religion or nationality. When someone believes their race is better than another and feels superior ro other people because of his of her race, is called racism. Throughout time, many people have lost their lives, or lost their families and children, and are left without homes due to racism. Racism causes wars, which could destroy humanity ultimately.

Racism is the belief that an exact race is superior or inferior to another, that an individual 's social and moral traits are predetermined by way of his or her inborn traits or in different words the belief that each one individuals of each race possess characteristics, skills, or qualities specified to that race, in particular in order to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Racism has many types such as racism towards other religions and other ethnicities but essentially the most noted style of racism is the racism against colored people. And there are three most important factors to why racism towards colored folks occurs and they are ignorance, fear of loss and displacement and finally the people’s desire to feel superior. Starting off with the first cause which is ignorance, what continues racism is ignorance in the world.

According to dictionary.com the defintion of racism is: “the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” Race was created socially by how people perceive ideas and faces people are not used to yet. It is the “hatred” of one person to another individual, solely based on that person's belief that the person is inferior because of their language, birthplace and skin colour. Racism is an issue that has lasted throughout history, providing justification for a group’s dominance over another.
