He was highly appreciated in 2012 after his death, The New York Times even stating how he is most responsible for bringing modern science fiction into literary mainstream. (The New York Times, 2012) Ray Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 in Illinios, to a Swedish immigrant named Esther Bradbury. His middle name was Douglas, after the actor Douglas Fairbanks.
