In Ray Bradbury’s irksome story “All Summer In A Day”, takes place on the rainy planet Venus. The sun comes out for only two hours every seven years and is treasured by the children on Venus. The students that live on Venus have been there for nine years, and so they don't even remember what the Sun looks like, except Margot. Margot had only been there for five years. She had lived in Ohio before she moved to Venus so she remembered the Sun, and she could describe the Sun. The other kids didn’t like her for that reason, so in result they were all envious of Margot. When the students would talk about the sun she would remember the great and satisfying feeling of the sun and try to talk about the Sun but the other kids wouldn't believe her. In …show more content…
In the text it states: “Oh, but,” Margot whispered, her eyes helpless. “But this is the day, the scientists predict, they say, they know, the sun…” “All a joke!” said the boy seizing her.” This piece of evidence goes along with my theme because it shows how her classmates do not believe that the sun will come out today. Since they do not already like Margot because she claims to have felt and have seen the sun, and the kids are jealous of her, why should they believe her when she says that the sun will come out that day. In response, the children’s envy led them to say things that was hurtful to Margot and has led them to not cooperate with her as well as being able to get along with her. In the first part of my piece of evidence Margot uses repetition to show her excitement of being able to witness the sun again in five years. This has bothered the students because they have never witnessed the sun ever in their life, so I think that they were jealous that Margot saw it once and that she didn’t have to see it again. So their jealousy led them to do something hurtful and mean that they would later regret further on in the …show more content…
“I did,” said Margot “I did,” this piece of evidence goes along with the theme of the story because it shows how her classmates are jealous that they can not write something that is as good as hers. Since they think that Margot’s is better than theirs and that she remembers the sun better than anyone else, her poem might be true. So her poem led to the children to protest against it and led them to say things that were mean to Margot and led them down the wrong road. In this first part of the evidence it is shown that Margot uses repetition to show the other students that she did write it and that she does remember the sun. The students are jealous that her poem is better than theirs because she has seen the sun before, and that it is unfair since they can not remember it and have only dreamed about
