Raymond Charles Robinson or Ray Charles as he was known was born on September the 23 1930 in Albany, Georgia, United States and died on June the 10th 2004. He was an American musician, singer, songwriter and composer. In 1978 Ray Charles wrote an auto biography with David Ritz called – Brother Ray Charles own story.

His second wife was Della Beatrice Howard Robinson they were married in 1955 and ended in a divorce in 1977. Ray Charles had 12 children Shelia Raye Charles, Ryan Corey Robinson, Robert Robinson, Charles Wayne Hendricks, Evelyn Robinson, Robyn Moffette, Vincent Kotchounian, Ray Charles Robinson jr, Alexander Betrand, Reatha Butler, David Robinson and Reanee Robinson.
How Ray got into music
When Ray was 5 he started play piano by the time he was 6 he started losing his eye sight and when he was 7 he lost his eye sight completely and he moved schools to St. Augustine’s school for the deaf and blind. He left school at 15 after his mum died from cancer to peruse his music career as his father died when he was 10. Ray Charles style of music is a mixture of gospel rhythm and blues.
